My
maternal grandparents. Note my grandma's swinging slacks. My
grandpa is looking over the TV listings.
My mom with my
brother Gus before I was born.
My dad in 1957,
before I was born, sitting in our apartment on Arco street
near the West End of St. Louis.
Here I am looking
every bit the happy young Art Director.
One of my
most tenuous early memories was always aided by this photo,
which reminded me of a dream I had of getting up in the
middle of the night with my brother Gus and washing my hair
in a basin of some kind.
This was my world
when I was a toddler, on Arco.
Here I am with my
newly born sister JoAnn and my brother Gus. We lived on
Maury, across the alley from my grade school, Wade.
A very cool picture
of me and Carol Jenkerson, who is pleased that she is
getting her hair done under the dryer like a
grown-up.
My father's
brother, Tino. He was the original family countercultural
hero. Here he was just getting into the Beatles.
A card party
with my Aunt Suzy and Uncle Mike. My mom is enjoying a
cigarette.
When we moved
on McDonald near Grand my family was already falling apart,
but I had fun hanging around with the gang on the
block.
We played a lot
with the Jenkersons, too. Their parents were my mother's
best friends, and we stayed with them to get away from my
father before we moved to this street.
